Wendy Ewald has dedicated her life to teaching children literacy through photography. The images from rural Kentucky to Mexico to India and beyond provide a compelling insight into a moment “at the end of childhood.” Some of my favorite images are also the ones I find most haunting: the children’s dreams and fantasies.
